Chamber Music

Khac-Uyen Nguyen is a Vietnamese born Norwegian musician based in London, he works as conductor, violinist and educator.

Uyen is Music Director for Southwark Sinfonia Orchestra, Verdandi Camerata and East London Symphony Orchestra. He is also a sought-after teacher, many of his students are studying at Purcell School of Music, the Menuhin School of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Royal Academy of Music. Presently he teaches the violin, viola and chamber music at Center for Young Musicians in Morley College and the London Russian Music Academy. Since 2017, Uyen became Chairman for the Tymbark International Music Competition in Poland. Every summer he works as Director for the International Summer Masterclasses in Norway and Poland.

He studied the violin with Issac Shuldmann at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo and with David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music in London. Uyen earned his Post Graduated Orchestral Conducting degree at Royal Academy of Music, studied with Colin Metters, George Hurst and Colin Davis. He worked as guest conductor with Klasshsche Philharmonie Bonn, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Suffolk Sinfonietta, London City Sinfonia and Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra. Uyen is also a member of the El Cimarrón Ensemble based in Hallein, Austria.

Ekaterina combines a career of an orchestral and chamber musician with extensive violin and chamber music teaching practice.

She graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory in 2003 where she also did her postgraduate studies in contemporary music. She holds the degrees in violin and chamber music performance and in violin and chamber music teaching.

Having completed her postgraduate studies at the Moscow Conservatoire in 2005, Ekaterina became a member of the prestigious Moscow State Symphonic Orchestra "Novaya Rossiya” conducted by the celebrated Russian musician Yuri Bashmet. She stayed with them until 2014 and a year later moved with her family to London where she developed her private violin teaching practice.

Ekaterina joined the RMA in 2019 and since then has been making a valuable contribution to its Strings Department teaching the violin and coaching chamber music groups across all ages.

Ekaterina approaches teaching in a very systematic way, with a thorough focus on details and technique, thus providing her students with a firm foundation and helping them realise their full potential and achieve their musical goals. She is a highly dedicated and experienced teacher, always prepared to walk that extra mile for her pupils who develop beautifully under her thoughtful guidance.

Dominika Anna Rosiek was born in Poland and started her violin studies at the age of 4. Within a year she had already recorded pieces for Polish TV and Radio , took part in national & international competitions and festivals winning many prizes including a special Prize at the Russian Music Festival.

Throughout her childhood she has been sponsored by the National Sponsorship for Talented Children. In 1993 she has recevied a special invitation to perform for the Pope John Paul II in Italy. Dominika jooined The Purcell School of Music where she was awarded a full scholarship , won the Guivier Prize for outstanding string player an was awarded the Alfred Brendel Prize.

Dominika continued her studies at Royal academy of Music in London where she was also awarded a full scholarship and finished her BMUS and PGDip wit1st Class Honorus and received awards from Hattori Foundation, Martin Music Schialrships, Worshipful Company, Park Lane Group, Live Music Now and many more.She is also a prize winner of many International Competietions.

Dominika had the pleasure to study with Zenon Brzewski, Ewa-Szubra Jargon, Mateja Marinkovic,Vladmimir Spivakov, Detlef Hahn, Petru Munteanu, Eric Friedman, Marina Jaszwili, Dorothy DeLay, Ruggiero Ricci, Thomas Brandis, Joseph Silverstein,Viktor Tryetiakov, Zahar Bron, Mauricio Fuks, Sylvia Rosenberg. Krzysztof Wegrzyn, José Luis García Asensio.

All the pedagogical input has influenced her approach to Music, Instrument and most importantly teaching, Dominika is a very versitile musician and artist. She has been invited to performed as a soloist and chamber musician at many International Music Festivals such as Prussia Cove, Holland Music Sessions, Spitelfield Festival ,Verbier Academy/Festival, Zurich Master Classes, “Encuentro De Musica De Santander”, Aspen Music Festival, Menuhin Festival ,Beethoven Festival. Her London appearances include performances at the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, St.Johns Smiths Sqare, Queen Elisabeth Hall and Royal Festival Hall.

Dominika is also very experienced Leader and an orchestral player . She is a member of Tchaikovsky Camerata ( former Russianl Virtuosi of Europe). She has Lead European Youth Orchestra, London Chamber Players, Philharmonia Orchetsra Soloists, Southwark Sinfonia, Verdandi Camerata , Co- Lead Royal Philharminc Orcehstra ,and Orchestra of Life with Nigel Kennedy.

She continues to give recitals and play chamber music across UK and Europe. Aside of her performing career she has dedicated her time to the upbrining young violinists. Teaching has been her passion since she can remember. She has more than 20 years of teaching experience . Many of her students have already won top prizes at various International &National Competitions and Festivals. In recent years she has been often invited to adjudicate many International competitions. In 2013 together with her husband Nguyen-Khac Uyen found “International Music Masterclass “ which has been running succesfully ever since in Norway, Poland and UK.

Dominika has her own Teaching studio however she also teaches at the Rachmaninoff Music Academy . Recently she started working for Music Masters as a Mentor for their new programme “PATHWAYS”.

Alexandra began to play the cello at the age of five and received her first music education at the music school in Moscow. She later entered Tchaikovsky Academic Music College at the Moscow State Conservatory (also known as Merzliakov Music College) to study cello and methodology of music education.

Alexandra continued her music studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory at the class of Kirill Rodin. During her five years there, she received an all-rounded musical education and on top of her cello studies, had many chamber music opportunities, played with symphony and chamber orchestras, and engaged in teaching training. Alexandra graduated from Moscow Conservatory in 2002 with the Master degree and moved to Belgium, where she did her PhD studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, class of Vivian Spanoghe (pupil of Janos Starker).

In Belgium, Alexandra played the cello in chamber ensembles and in symphony and chamber orchestras, including The National Belgium Orchestra and Lage Landen orchestra. She also worked for opera houses, including Namur opera, Vlaams opera and Alden Biesen opera. In education, Alexandra collaborated with the Association “Musicordes” (member of ESTA), where she was giving individual and group lessons and masterclasses, coaching ensembles and providing orchestral training.

In 2015 Alexandra moved to UK with her family and soon after joined the RMA as a cello teacher and chamber music coach at the London Russian music Academy. She also gained a position of the Head of music at James Elliman’s academy.

Alexandra continues to combine teaching with concert career. She has been working with many musicians of high standing and collaborated with famous conductors, such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Gennady gennady Rozhdestvensky, Yevgeny Svetlanov, Zubin Mehta, Koen Kessels (Music Director Designate at Royal Opera House, Covent Garden), Enrico Delamboye, Andrew Greenwood (Welsh national opera), Mikhail Pletnev, Boris Berezovsky and David Cohen.

Born in Russia, Lilija began to play the piano at the age of 6, when she joined the Sabitov Music School in Ufa. She continued her music education at the Ufa College of Art, specialising in piano, chamber music and piano accompaniment, and later gained a place at the Ismagilov Institute of Art to study with the renowned concert pianist Prof. V. Monastyrskiy (now Prof. of Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance). Lilija graduated with Masters in piano performance, chamber music, piano accompaniment and pedagogy.

During her studies at the Institute of Art, she taught piano at music schools and also had a position of an accompanist at the State Academic Choir (“Capella”) directed by T. Saifullin. Working with this exceptional musician, Lilija gained invaluable musical insights and experience. She also gave numerous solo performances at various music festivals and competitions and took part in chamber music concerts, playing duets and piano trios with her chamber partners.

Having graduated from the Institute of Art, Lilija did her postgraduate studies at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Department of Ancient Music, specialising in harpsichord under the tutelage of Prof. E. Parmentier from the Michigan University School of Music, Theatre and Dance, USA, completing her studies in 1994.

Having moved to Budapest with her family, Lilija started teaching piano at the Budapest State Music School and continued to play in concerts as a chamber musician and choral accompanist. The family later moved to London, where Lilija started teaching privately and in 2011 joined the RMA in its first year (known as Belsize Music Academy at that time).

Lilija has brought up many talented young musicians who have been consistently achieving Distinctions in ABRSM Grade 8, Diploma in Performance and Licenciate Diploma. She is in high demand due to her excellent record of teaching children across all ages, as well as adults.

Was born in Lipetsk, Russia in 1985. From the age of 2 Sergey showed interest in music and he began his piano studies when he was 6. In childhood he became a prizewinner of several national and international competitions, most notably he received the 1st prize and a gold medal at the 3rd Tchaikovsky Junior International Piano Competition at the age of 12. He continued his studies in Moscow with professor Naum Schtarkman at the Gnessin School and later Central Music School. During his time in Moscow Sergey also took lessons from Igor Zhukov and Mikhail Pletnev. Sergey received his Bachelor Degree at the Moscow Conservatory, and a Masters of Music Degree at the Royal College of Music, London. Basukinsky performed as a soloist and with orchestras in Russia, Europe, Japan at venues such as: Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Great Philarmonic Hall, St. Petersburg, Hall Salle Gaveau (Paris), Kioi Hall (Tokyo) among others. Since 2014 Sergey has been teaching piano in London.

Amiran frequently appears as a concert soloist and in chamber music ensembles in public recitals and concerts in Russia, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Spain, USA (incl. Carnegie Hall), and the United Kingdom (incl. Wigmore Hall, St.James Piccadilly Church, Steinway Hall, London) and successfully combines extensive teaching career with performing.

He started studying piano at the age of five at the Gnessin Special Music College, Moscow under the guidance of Professors Ada Traub and Tatiana Vorobieva, and in 2009 continued his education at the Central Music School (College) of Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory as a student of Professor Alexander Mndoyants. During his studies in Russia, he became a prizewinner of many international competitions (incl. VIIth Concorso Internazionale Valsesia Musica juniors (Varallo, Italy, 2006) – 1st Prize, VIIIth International Balys Dvarionas Competition for Young Pianists and Violinists (Vilnius, Lithuania, 2008) – Grand Prix etc) and received a special scholarship from the Government of the Russian Federation.

After graduating from the Central Music School with Highest Honours in June 2013 Amiran was admitted to the Royal Academy of Music with full entrance scholarship, where he studied on the Bachelor of Music and then the Master of Arts programme with Professors Christopher Elton and Joanna MacGregor CBE. Amiran completed both degrees with First Class and achieved prestigious DipRAM award for an outstanding final recital as well as LRAM teaching diploma. His most important recent public appearances include the Finals of the Jaques Samuel Pianos Intercollegiate Piano Competition (held at Wigmore Hall, October 2014), the Piano Festival of the Royal Academy of Music (July 2016, 2018, 2019), Encuentro de Musica Festival in Santander, Spain (July 2016&July 2017), and the 9th Chopin Birthday Concerts Festival in Warsaw, Poland (February 2018). In April 2018 he was invited by the Autonomous University of Zacatecas, Mexico, to perform a concerts series and give piano and chamber music masterclasses.

In 2019 Amiran was appointed Hodgson Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music for the 2019-2020 academic year where he was one of the youngest teachers at the Academy teaching Score Reading, Song Accompaniment and Sight-reading for pianists. At present he continues to teach various classes for pianists at the Academy as well as being an RMA teacher since 2019. In the RMA Amiran teaches piano performance, music theory, solfeggio as well as his own designed course of harmony based on the distinguished traditions of P. I. Tchaikovsky, S. Taneev, N. Rimsky-Korsakov. His students are very successful in various competitions, concerts, festivals as well as in ABRSM grade exams.

Amiran is also very fond of conducting and has a strong interest in historical keyboards.
